Turbulent Times Coping Mechanism

Lately (well, it's been a rather prolonged 'lately' lately) I've been having a difficult time writing what I ride. There are only so many hours in the day, and either time has been speeding or I have really become slothful.. or most likely both. Ahem. There are so many ride reports hanging in the draft limbo. But, but, I am trying to actually finish and post a few relatively soon... -ish.

I'll confess, it seems frivolous posting about bike rides nowadays, considering the daily if not hourly drastic turns of events in the USA. But, to be a functional productive member of society, one has got to be sane. And, going out riding the bike, jogging, hiking for a few hours each day away from the constant stream of dark and depressing news is a really good way of retaining that sanity so I can properly process what is going on around me and to put things into workable perspectives.

It is refreshing to be out among people and interacting with them face to face rather than being stuck to social media all the time. A lot of people do behave/talk differently in life than they do on the internet (it is quite educational to observe, really. I am so very grateful to know and befriend quite many people who have both the willingness and the ability to say things online in the same manner that they do in real life). Every one has a beast in them, and being able to restrain that beast is a key ingredient in being able to foster a functional real life society where things you do and say have consequences that you can't log off away from.

So... Don't let the bastards get you down too much. So to speak. Other generations have survived darker times than we are in. Hang on to your virtues and do the little things. Make the small differences. And... go ride the bike! Video is from a part of a recent ride in Perris, CA.
